Carmathen Town Walking Football Christmas Cup 23/11/19
On a cold damp Saturday evening, under the lights of Carmarthen Town FC, a new look side including 3 lad's who had never featured for the team, took on the Carmarthen Christmas Cup.
Game one saw a slow steady no score draw vs Tenby. Game 2 saw the first win by 2 goals to nil against Carmarthen Town B. Game 3 saw a real tight affair vs Barry Town A but with the points totalled we headed to the semi finals topping the group
The semi final vs Merthyr Town was a hard fought contest, the order of the day being nip and tuck. Alltudion thought they had done it when a pass from the keeper to the Merthyr defender was poached and slotted into the net, only to be chalked off by the officials for an unlawful tackle. With the game at deadlock, penalties ensued with Alltudion coming out on top 2-1.
On to the final against Tenby and a slightly longer playing time of 20 mins. The game started off as tightly as the previous game, but after 7 mins Tenby broke the stalemate and netted, our first conceded goal of the day. Rolling up our sleeves we set to work to get an equaliser. Alas it was not to be, we hit the post twice, hit the crossbar once and the Tenby keeper making save after save and as the final whistle sounded, we had been beaten 1-0.
Congratulations to very worthy winners Tenby, I'm sure that we will cross swords again. Also special mention to Carmarthen Town and especially Josh Edwards for the venue and organising of a great afternoon.
The winners of the Christmas Cup Tenby but the real winner was WALKING FOOTBALL.
